The De Hoop Mill was built in 1736 on the site of an old post mill. There is an engraving on one of the south-east facing stones which details the laying of the first stone by the mayors of the city. The mill has had several private owners. It was sold to the municipality of Tholen in 1955, and has been recently restored. The mill is in working order, but suffers from poor winds because of a number of high trees in the surrounding area. Tours of the mill are available by appointment only.
