The Catharina Mill was built in 1837 as a collaboration between three families. Hendrik ’t Hooft of Zaltbommel and Jacobs ’t Hooft of Zutphen paid the bulk of the cost for the construction of the mill, and Gijsbert van der Kant and his wife Mary were the other owners. The mill was recently sold to Mr P. A. Smits. The Catharina mill is currently idle and in a very poor condition, and is awaiting restoration.
