The Zwakkenburger mill is an historic water mill located just 100 meters away from the Van Starkenborgh Channel between Gruijpskerk and Zuidhorn. The mill was built in 1865, and originally served the Zwakkenburger and Ellertsvelderpolder. In 1955, the mill was decommissioned, and it stood idle until the turn of the century, when a 600,000 guilder restoration project was began. In 2003, the mill was officially re-opened. The Zwakkenburger Mill is open to the public.
