The Traanroeier mill was built in 1902 as a corn mill. It was later converted to an electricity generator to provide power for the island of Texel. The mill was decommissioned in 1946, but was restored a few years later. It is now owned by The Foundation for the Preservation of the Traanroeier Mill, and is considered part of the Jutter Maritime Museum. The mill was restored in 1999, and is open to the public Tuesday to Saturday each week.
