The Tjongermolen is an historic water mill located near the Schoterlandseweg in the town of Midam. The mill was built in 1863, but then dismantled for repairs, and rebuilt in 1918. The mill was in use as a polder mill until 1950. In 1983, the Fryske Mill Foundation bought the mill, and put it back into use to channel water along the old Tjonger river. The Tjongermolen is open to the public, and tours are available upon request.
