The Swallow mill was built in 1837 by the millers L. Reinds and B. Sluter. The mill was intended to replace an older, less efficient post mill. The Swallow was sold to the Grevinge family in 1876, and stayed in the family for several generations. In 1980, the mill was in a state of disrepair, and was bought by the town for restoration purposes. Today, the mill is in working order, and has been opened to the public. It is best to call to make an appointment before visiting.
