The Rieger Mill was built in 1871 as the fifth mill on the Great Veenpolder. The mill was built by Anne Fabriek, and has a small millers house attached to it. The mill was put into use on the 24th December 1870, and the first miller was Ijsbrand Tijmens de Boer. Mr. De Boer served the mill until his death in February 1905. The mill was closed down in 1956. Today, the Rieger mill is privately owned, and ran on a recreational basis.
