The Nekkermolen was built in 1631 to serve the 2405 hectare Heemraadscham Wormer polder. The mill was built at the same time as three other mills, the Poelmolen, the Jispermolen, and the Zuidooster, although these mills were demolished in the early 1900s. The Nekkermolen is still in working order today although it can only be operated when the wind is blowing from the southwest or the northwest. The mill is used to manage the water levels of a nearby peat pasture.
