The Meermolen was built in 1804 to serve the 695 hectare Naardermeer polder. The mill is located in the middle of a large, open pasture which offers some good scenic views. The Meermolen is the only one of the original mills from that polder which is still in working order today. The mill is now maintained by The Society for the Preservation of Nature and Monuments in the Netherlands. The Meermolen is open to the public every Saturday.
