The Grote Zeesluis, or ’Great Sea Sluice’ is an old sea sluice near Muiderslot in the town of Muiden. The sea sluice was constructed in 1674, when the Zuiderzee was still open to the sea. The Zeesluis is a non listed monument, and a testament to the incredible engineering skill shown by Dutch people throughout the centuries. The Zeesluis is a spectacular sight, and the Muderslot and Pampus castles are both nearby, offering good sight seeing opportunities for people visiting the Sluice on a day trip.
