The Fortune Mill was built in 1890 for miller K. Homan, to replace an older mill that had damaged in a fire earlier in the year. The mill has a unique shape, inspired by the choirs and mills of Grijpskerk. The interior of the mill is still in good condition, and includes the original grindstones which are used for grinding barley and wheat. The mill is now owned by the city of Zuidhorn. The mill is open to the public by appointment only.
