The Duif Mill was built in 1886, to replace a mill that had burned down less than two months earlier, after being struck by lightning. The previous mill was the property of Henry Westerink. When the mill was destroyed, he arranged for rebuilding to start within eight days. The company that won the contract, Ten Sijthof Deventer, completed the work in just six weeks. The mill is still in working order today, and is open to the public. Underneath the mill is a small cafe, which is open every day during the summer.
