The Biks mill was built in 1857 by the mill-maker Helenius from Mensingeweer. The mill relied on wind power alone until 1959 when it was converted to use an electric motor. In 2001, the mill was restored by a company called Dunning Molenbouw from Adorp. The mill is situated near a cycle path on a popular route, and the area surrounding the mill is currently undergoing a major regeneration project, to make it more accessible and attractive to tourists.
