The Rust Roest Corn Mill was built in 1856 for the miller Hermannus Dijk. After his death, the mill was sold to the Sikkens family, who ran it for three generations before it was sold to the Kollumerland Monument Foundation. In 1930, the mill suffered serious damage during a wind storm. The mill was promptly restored. The Rust Roest Mill is still in use today, and is open to the public. Tours of the mill can be arranged upon request.
