The Hervormde Kerk is located on Kerkstraat in the town of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. It is a Dutch Reformed Church, with a very active congregation. The church runs lots of services, events, and activities throughout the year. The first reformed preacher came to Ouderkerk in 1579, but services were held at the Ouderkerk (Old Church) until 1861, when the two churches split. The Reformed Church was first constructed in 1909, and rebuilt in the 1940s, after the original building was severely damaged during World War II
