The Paaltjasker It Damshûs is a modern ’Tjasker’ mill located on Domela Nieuwenhuisweg in the town of Nij Beets. The mill was built in 2002, and is used to drain the It Damhus open-peat bog. Visitors can explore the area and see how the Tjasker regulates the water level in the area, and learn about how the peat taken from the area is processed. The mill is ran on a voluntary basis, and was made by volunteer mill-makers W. Hofkamp and U. Burg Marssum.
