The Opwettense Watermill is an 181th century water-driven mill located on the banks of the river Dommel. The first watermill was built on this site in the 11th century, but it was destroyed by a fire in 1743. The mill was rebuilt in the same year, and upgraded in the 1800s by the Van Horn family, with the installation of what was at the time the largest waterwheel in the Netherlands. The Opwettense Watermill was the subject of a painting done by Vincent van Gogh in 1884.
