The Niewerkerk Mill is a working corn mill located on Schoolstraat in the town of Niewerkerk. It was built in 1844 to replace an older mill that was destroyed after being struck by lightning. There is an inscription on the gate of the mill that says ’By the Zeeland Law am I here set down.’ referring to the fact that the mill had to be re-built 125 meters north-west of the site of the original mill because of a law which prohibited the building of a mill with rotating blades close to a road. The mill is open to the public on Saturdays.
