The Nieuwe Kerk in Middelburg dates back to the 16th century. It is a two aisled parish church, and is a part of the abbey complex. The church holds the double tomb of the brothers Jan and Cornelis Eversteen, admirals who were killed in the English war of 1666, as well as some memorial tablets for count William of Holland. When the church was restored, the Rijksmuseum donated an 1892 organ, which had originally belonged to a Protestant church in Amsterdam.
