The Museumkelder Derlon is located on Plankstraat in Maastricht. It is a small museum, housed in the basement of a hotel, and preserves the remains of a temple to Jupiter – one of the few remnants of Roman Maastricht. The remains were discovered just before the hotel was built in the mid 1980s. Jupiter is the son of Saturn and brother of Neptune. He was considered the Patron god of Rome, and his temple was the official place of state business.
