The Municipal Historical Museum of Ouder-Amstel is devoted to the history and development of the village, and the importance of the village in relation to the surrounding region. The museum is housed in a group of small 18th century houses in the center of the village. It has a varied collection of items relating to the history of the village, including maps, models, antiques, and photographs. The museum places a lot of emphasis on historical water management, and the problems in the 16th century, when other regions pumped their surplus of water into the Amstel.
