The Kooilwijkse Mill was built in 1866 at the same time as the ’Noordelijke Kooijwijkse Mill’, to serve the Noordelijkse Polder. The ’Noordelijke Kooijwijkse Mill’ was replaced with a motorised pump in 1925, but the Kooilwijkse Mill is still standing today. The mill was sold to the Foundation For the Conservation of Mills in the Alblasserwaard and Vijfheerenlanded in 1985, for the token amount of 1 Guilder. The foundation restored the mill, and in 2003 it was put back into active use.
