The Kloveniersdeolen is loceted at the end of Langeviele, just southwest from the Markt. It was built between 1607 and 1611, in an exuberent Flemish Renaissance style. It originally served as the home of the city civic guard, known as the Arquebusiers, until the late 18th century, when it became the headquaters of the East India Company, and then later a military hospital. The tower was destroyed in 1735 when the building was struck by lightning. It was restored in 1969. The building is now used as a recital hall for the Centre for New Music.
