The Hoop Doet Leven, or ’Hope Is Life’ Mill was built in 1867 on the behalf of the Van de Reijt family, and remained in their possession until 1939, when the mill was sold to G. J. Hermus. The Hope Is Life mill suffered heavy damage during the Second World War, and was not repaired until 1970. Today, the mill is owned by the Hermus Megvoeders Company, and is open to the public. There is a small shop in the yard of the mill.
