The Doris Mooltsje mill was originally built in 1790, making it one of the oldest polder mills in the Friesland area. The mill was partially demolished in 1934, and the remaining parts of the mill complex were used to house a pumping station. In 1992, the Doris Mooltsje Foundation was set up to restore the mill, and itwas reopened on June 13th 1998 by Jan Hofstra and Theodors Gunneweg, a descendant of the original owner of the mill.
