The De Hoop Mill was built 1641. From 1785 to 1901 the mill was owned by the De Geus family. In 1901 it was sold to the Slijboom family. In 1962 the mill was closed down, and sold to the town of Oude Niedorp. Since, then, the mill has been restored, and is now ran on an occasional basis. The mill is currently cared for by two millers, and is open to the public. Tours of the De Hoop mill are available by appointment.
