The De Hoop Mill, or ’The Hope Mill’ in Meddelstum was built by H. Bremner in 1855. The mill was severely damaged during a storm in 1869, but was promptly restored. The mill was decommissioned in 1954, and stood idle until it was bought and restored by the town of Middelstum in 1972. Today, the mill is ran my Mr T. de Jonge and Mr R. Hofman. Visits to the mill are possible by appointment only.
