There has been a mill on the site of the current d’Arke mill since the 16th century, but the current mill is of a much more recent design. It was built in 1858, to replace an older mill that had been made ineffective because of new buildings that had been constructed around it, blocking the wind. The mill is currently owned by Veere County, and is open to the public every Saturday, with appointments available for visits on other days.
