The ’Buiten Verwachting’, or ’Beyond Expectation’ is a working corn mill located on Molenweg in the town of Nieuw- en Sint Joosland. The name of the town comes from the merger of the villages of Nieuwland and Sint Joospolder in 1818. The Beyond Expectation mill was built in 1874. The mill was very efficient, and replaced several much smaller mills that had previously been required to meet the needs of the town. The mill is open to the public on Saturdays, with appointments available for those that wish to visit on other days.
