The Waag, or, Weigh House in Leeuwarden is located on the Market Square. It was constructed in 1670, and was used to weigh cheese for the weekly cheese market. The building has been converted into a museum, and now displays exhibits related to the cheese making process, along with information on other local crafts such as pottery and tile painting. It also has a store selling several varieties of cheese. The cheese market still takes place just outside the Waag, every Thursday morning.
