The Vogelzicht was built in 1865 for the miller Frederick Hendrikstraat. The mil was built by a Belgian mill making firm called ’The Moor’ from Sint Niklaas, following a commission from J. Jole. The Jole family owned the mill for three generations before it was sold to the Vogelzicht Mill Foundation. The miller’s house that stands next to the mill is slightly older than the mill itself, having been built in 1840. The Vogelzicht Mill is open to the public.
