The Young Hero mill was built in 1829 by T H Forest, and was used to keep the nearby 457 hectare polder dry and inhabitable. The mill suffered a lot of damage over the years, and in 1997 a 260,000 Dutch Gilder restoration project was carried out. The attic of the mill contains a collection of 35 different kinds of nesting boxes. The mill is open to the public on the 2nd weekend of every month.
