The Volksvriend corn mill was built in 1903 for P. A. Gitsels. During the Second World War, the mill suffered a lot of damage. It was partially restored in 1946 using parts from the demolished Bergeijk belt mill. In 1966, the mill was bought by the town of Deurne, and the restoration work was completed. The Volksvriend corn mill now ran on a voluntary basis, and is open to the public every Thursday and Saturday.
