The New Lekkerland polder in Kinderdijk used a tiered drainage system, with a ’High Mill’, and a ’Low Mill’. The Low Mill was built in 1761, and was used to support the older High Mill that had been built in 1740. The Low Mill is also often referred to as the Small Mill. It is still running today, and the current miller is Mr A. Stam. The Low Mill is not open to the public.
