The Batavia was a ship of the Dutch East India Company, built in 1628, which was struck by mutiny and shipwreck during her maiden voyage. A replica of the Batavia was built in 1995 as part of an employment project for young people. The ship spent a short time on display at the National Maritime Musem in Sydney, before being returned to the Bataviawerf in Lelystad where it is currently on display and open to visitors.
