St Nicolaaskerk, or Bovenkerk, is located on Oudestraat in Kampen. The church is considered one of the most important medieval churches in the country, and features a choir with 13 radiating chapels – the work of Rotger of Cologne, a famous mason who also worked on Cologne Cathedral. An urn in the southern transept contains the heart of Admiral de Winter, a native of Kampen who helped the French during the invasion of 1795 the rest of his remains can be found in the Pantheon in Paris.
