The Singer Laren Museum was opened in 1956. William and Anna Singer lived in the artist colony in Laren, and built the Singer Laren villa in 1911. They were passionate collectors, and William set up a museum in the villa in 1943, in tribute to his wife. The museum contains work by William Singer, Albert Neuhuys, Evert Pieters, Lou Loeber, and Jan Sluijters, as well as several other artists from the period between 1880 and 1950.
