The Penninga’s Mill was built in 1692 as a paper mill in the the town of Westzaan. The mill has had several names, including ’The Young Dolpin’, and ’The Copper Mountain’. The mill was converted into a barley mill in 1819, and was in active use until 1936. The Penninga’s Mill has been maintained by The Penninga’s Mill Foundation since 1970, and was restored in 1972. The mill is open to the public every Saturday morning.
