The Overwaard Mill No. 5 is one of several mills on the Overwaard in the town of Kinderdijk. The mills were built in 1740, and originally pumped water into a 17KM long drainage channel. The site on which the mills stand is on the World Heritage List, and attracts over 3,000,000 visitors each year – of which around half are foreign tourists interested in learning about windmills and their part in Dutch history. The current miller is Mr. Jaap de Vries.
