The Overwaard Mill No. 3 is one of 10 mills on the Overwaard. These mills along with another 8 in the Kinderdijk area, form the largest group of mills in the Netherlands. The Overwaard Mills were built in 1740, and were used as water mills to help keep the nearby polders drained and dry. The site on which the mills stand is a protected World Heritage site, and is considered to be of exceptional universal value, because of the way the site has remained largely unchanged throughout the years.
