The Nederwaard Mill No. 8 is one of a group of 18 mills in the Kinderdijk area. The Nederwaard group of mills is the largest group of operational mills in the Netherlands, and the site is considered a World Heritage monument. The mills attract a huge number of visitors each year, and are a great example of 18th century engineering. The mills that are there today were built in 1738 to replace some much older drainage mills that date back to the 14th century.
