The Nederwaard Mill No. 5 is one of a group of 18 mills located on the Nederwaard. There have been mills serving the Kinderdijk and the nearby polders since the middle ages, but the current mills were not built until 1738. They are now recognised as UNESCO World Heritage monuments, and attract almost three million visitors each year. The Nederwaard Mill No. 5 is cared for my miller A. Hoek. It is not currently open to the public.
