The National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden is famous for its collections from Indonesia, Korea, Australia, and Japan. The Japanese collection includes items gathered between 1650-1855, brought home by Dutch traders that had created temporary settlements in Japan during that time. The National Museum of Ethnology holds items from almost every part of the world, and allows visitors to explore ancient cultures, as well as examine modern day customs and taboos. The museum has a gift shop and a café on site.
