The Grote Geert mill was built in 1818 on behalf of Simon Nienoord. The mill was built as a ’low stellingmolen’ – a tall, large form of windmill, with a walkway, or ’stelling’ around the middle of the mill for the miller to use to reach the sails. In 1852 the mill was redesigned my Mr A. East, to raise the walkway by around 10 feet, and replace the hood. Today, the mill is ran by Mr J. G. Werkman. Tours of the mill are available every Saturday afternoon.
