The De Volharding Mill was built in 1872 to serve a 50 hectare section of the Piip Ald polder. The mill was originally owned by W. E. van Ede of Bingen. The De Volharding Mill was in active use until 1944. The Fryske Mill Foundation bought the mill in 1972, and restored it the following year. The De Volharding Mill is open to the public, and guided tours of the mill can be arranged upon request.
