The Kathammer Mill was built in 1652 to serve the Katwoude-Hogendijk polder. The mill was decommissioned in 1911 when a motorised pump too over husbandry of the polder. In 1983, the Friends of the Katwouder Mill Foundation began a restoration project. The mill was re-opened by R. J. de Wit, Commissioner of the Queen, in 1988. The mill is in working order, and is open to the public every day, with group tours available by appointment.
