The Zuiderzee Museum hosts a varied collection of items dealing with the past, present and future of the Zuiderzee and Ijselmeer region. The museum has an open air collection, which has been constructed to look like a village, complete with a church, school, pharmacy, market area, patisserie, and fishing village. The indoor exhibition zones feature displays of ships, and a mock VOC warehouse. There is also a small nature area with a reconstructed Bronze Age farm.
