The Zonnestraal is considered by many to be a masterpiece of modern architecture. It was designed by Jan Duiker, Bernard Bijvoet, and Jan Gerko Wiebenda in 1925, and was a pioneering piece of work from the ’New Building’ era. The estate officially opened in 1928. The estate is located near the Utrecht bridge, and covers around 100 hectares of land. The main building was restored in 2003, returning the Zonnestraal to its former glory.
