The Windmotor 3 in Earnewâld is one of several modern water mills in the town. It is a fairly small mill with 18 wind sheets and a flight of just 4.5 metres. The mill was built early in the 20th century, to a design known as the U.S. Wind Engine. This design is a very common sight in the Friesland area. The Windmotor 3 is located to the west of Mindertsfean in the Rottige Meenthe nature reserve. The Windmotor 3 is still in use today, and is not generally open to the public.
