Map
The Vischpoort was constructed in 1392, and was originally used as a closed defence tower. It was converted to a gate in 1592, and remained an integral part of the village defence for hundreds of years. There is a lighthouse built in to the tower, although it is no longer used. The gate and surrounding ramparts have been carefully restored, and make a good starting point for exploring the town defences.
